Shqipëri – the country of eagles – a proud and magic name for a country still unknown and bearing so many secrets and unexpected surprises within. With about 29.000 square kilometers one of the smallest countries in Europe, Albania can offer a lot of superlatives: Does anybody know that here is the flora and fauna of richest diversity among all European countries to be found? Or that Lake Ohrid which it shares with Macenia belongs to the oldest and clearest ones of the world? Albania is a country in transition – with impressive nature backdrops, works of art from the Illyrian antiquity as well as from the Ottoman times. Hospitable, open people, who after many years of dictatorship and isolation from the rest of the world strive for Europe. This exploration travel connects the secluded mountain world with lively coastal cities, it shows the traditional picture of old Balkan cities as well as silent monasteries and far off villages – a fascinating mixture of Christian and Ottoman cultural influences in a background full of contrast!
